Thanks for your co operation.
The situation with the National Park is still ongoing and we have had to resubmit plans for the rescue, so Green Acres is NOT safe yet if you have not already done it you can email your support of us to
Green Acres Blog
We are going to try our best (time allowing) to update our blog at least every couple of days so all of our web watchers can see what is going on at the rescue, and what an up hill struggle it can be.
Updated 27-07-10
Please remember when applying to adopt one of our animals that a lot of effort and expense has gone into the dog that you are taking into your home. The cost of the flea treatment and the wormers are very high and should the dog need to be neutered it is a very high drain on our limited resources. It is for this reason that we suggest a donation of £60.00 for each dog. Please read 'How to adopt a dog ' page
Summer
Summer is an ex-breeding dog who is now looking for a loving new home, she was quite nervous on arrival but soon came out of her shell and realised that people are nice. She is still wary of strangers but soon comes round. She is a little jealous of other dogs so would need to be an only dog, but will quite happily go for a walk with others. She will need a patient owner who is willing to put in the time with her and show her what a pet life is like. She is a very sweet girl just looking for a life that she has never had. Summer is approx 6 years old.

Molly
Molly was part of an unplanned litter and the one the owner of the mother decided to keep, but Mollys mum had other ideas, and now Molly is 4 mths her mum attacked her and hurt her eye (picture below), this had also become infected. So their owner contacted us to rehome Molly.
She is said to be a Labrador cross but looks like a real mixture of breeds, she a very sweet and typical very lively and playful puppy, our vet has prescribed antibiotics for her eye and we hope it will heal up on its own. This girl will need to attend puppy training classes to ensure she turns out to be a well balanced and behaved adult. She has had a rough start and needs a new loving home to help her blossom into a lovely dog.
Update - Mollys eye is now nearly fully healed and she has finished her antibiotics. She is a loveable little girl desperate for a home to call her own.
Molly is now in foster with Ellie and is getting on great, she is living happily with 2 collies and a cat (although she will chase the cat if she runs) she has responded well to training so this will need to be continued, loves her walks and loves to play. Here are some pics of Molly now and as you can see her eye is fully healed.

Carly
Are you a person who likes a challenge? Or a project lover who likes to reap the rewards? If you are Carly is the dog for you! Carly was homed by us nearly 2 years ago and has been returned as her owners housing arrangements changed and they where unable to take her to their new rented property. Carly is 4 years old and is a Labrador x Pyranean Mountian dog. Her owners have done alot with Carly and she has improved but needs someone to continue working with her. Are you a strong enough person to take up the challenge, Carly is very heavy hearted as she does not understand why she is back in kennels. I will list below Carlys pros and cons and I pray someone will offer her a forever home.
Pros - Carly is a beautiful dog large cuddly and very gentle, she is fun loving and loves to play, she is 100% housetrained, she adores children and adults alike, previously lived with cats.
Cons - Carly is very strong but when handle correctly this is not an issue, due to lack of socialisation as a pup she is unsure on how to behave around other dogs and is sometimes overwhelming again when handled correctly this is managable.
Carly needs a committed owner who is willing to take the rough with the smooth, and follow a structured training programme to make her life more enjoyable. With time and effort this dog will be a great family pet. My fear is she will be continually over looked for the prettier more well behaved dogs, Please give her a chance and I pray she will be given one.

Jimmy
Jimmy is a 5-6 year old Boxer looking for his second chance of happiness, he came in due to relationship breakdown where neither party could take Jimmy on full time. He seems a very nice boy and has basic training. He walks well on the lead and travelled well to the rescue. If Boxers are your breed Jimmys the one for you....!
16-06-10 - Update - Today Jimmy went in to be neutered, everything was fine dropped him off to our vets as normal and planned to call at lunch time to check how he was and arrange collection time. Not long after a call recieved from out vet and we where told that Jimmy has a perineal hernia (hernia situated to the side of the anus), to fix this he would need a week on lactolose medicine and have a very difficult surgical operation to repair the hole. The bad news is that this operation will cost £500-£600!! We of course said that we would collect him and rebook for one weeks time. Jimmy is a loving sweet boy who deserves a good home we refuse to let him die as he is a financial inconveinience, if you can find it in your heart to help with Jimmys bill please make a donation via website or send us a cheque. Thank you for your support. (See our blog for more info).
Update - 03-07-10 - Jimmy has had his operation to repair his hernia and is now well on the road to recovery, as you can see from the picture its a very neat wound and once stitches are removed and his hair grows back you will never know its been done. So he will now be ready for adoption please offer Jimmy a forever home hes a very sweet gentleman.

Ozzie
We where recently approached by Llanelli Dogs Home as they are closing and need to move their dogs on, well Ozzie is the first we have helped. He is a 6 year old Dobermann he is neutered and has been at the dogs home for a fair while. He was given up by his owner as they said they didnt have time for him but neighbours confirmed he spent most of his time in their 8'x6' yard. Ozzie has a problem with his legs that has never been investigated but after a trip to vets today he was diagnosed with Lumber Sacral disease, this is the over formation of bone in the spine that then presses on the nerves causing problems with his legs. He will need life long medication now to manage this condition and this will cost about £2 per day. Please dont let this put you off this beautiful, gentle friendly boy, He has been good with other dogs that he has met and would suit a family with older children. Ozzie still has yet to have some xrays and we will keep you posted on his progress.
Update - Ozzie is now in foster care with Trudi he has settled in with her great, fine with her children and other dogs, he has lost a little weight and has responded well to medication and his life is much improved. He so deserves a forever home now. He has had his xrays which confrmed his diagnosis and he also has poor hips but the medication will help that too. Please find it in your heart to offer him a home. He will be devoted to you for ever in return.

Soul

This is poor poor Soul he is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and is approx 11 years old, it breaks my heart to see any dog in rescue but this poor boy deserves so much more at this time of his life, he should have an owner who hes loved for many years, a well used bed and a collection of well played with toys but NO Soul is in rescue as he found himself in a death row pound before christmas. On leaving there was diagnosed with kennel cough and very nearly died! He is now looking for a nice retirement home, Soul has one vice he is not good with other dogs or small furries so needs a home where he will be an only pet! He is fantastic with adults and children alike.
Soul is NOT a Green Acres dog, he is in the care of Yvonne Parkins Rescue 01348 831103, please contact this number for more information also Yvonne Parkins Rescue are willing to cover the cost of any vet fees until poor soul passes over to rainbow bridge.
